Emerson today announced the TESCOM RC‑X Injection‑Rate Motorized Control Valve. The unit delivers precise, repeatable chemical metered injection for offshore applications, enabling flow assurance for refineries while lowering total injection‑operation costs.
Flow assurance is critical to the design and operation of offshore oil‑and‑gas production facilities. Its importance grows as the industry moves toward deeper waters, longer tie‑backs, deeper wells, and higher‑temperature, higher‑pressure reservoirs. In such environments, flow can be restricted by hydration, corrosion, and deposits of wax, asphaltenes, scale and emulsions.
Refineries commonly inject chemicals to mitigate blockages. However, both over‑injection and under‑injection bring adverse consequences. Over‑injection raises chemical consumption and costs, increases on‑site tank‑refill frequency, and may disrupt downstream processing, potentially triggering pollution penalties. Under‑injection fails to deliver intended performance, risking equipment integrity and production output.
Julia Villa, Product Marketing Manager for Emerson Fluid & Motion Control, commented: “Proper chemical‑injection control in deep‑water and high‑temperature/high‑pressure service helps prevent blockages and flow instability, sustains fluid flow, preserves equipment integrity and boosts production efficiency.” “Engineered specifically for offshore chemical injection, the TESCOM RC‑X Injection‑Rate Motorized Control Valve works in tandem with MicroMotion™ Coriolis mass flowmeters to achieve accurate dosing and reduce downtime and waste caused by excessive chemical feed.”
The TESCOM RC‑X control valve features a short‑stroke design (less than 1/8 inch), maintaining high‑precision regulation at pressures up to 15 000 psi. It supports ultra‑low‑flow modulation covering 0.02‑500 L/h. Equipped with 4‑20 mA control signal, it provides highly repeatable accurate control for reliable flow assurance. Its electric actuator requires no air supply, offering advantages where compressed‑air supply is insufficient or unstable.
Available in medium‑pressure and high‑pressure versions, the TESCOM RC‑X adopts a lightweight, compact modular design. Its motor has a smaller footprint than comparable chemical‑injection control valves, facilitating more compact skid‑system design.
Fewer internal moving parts compared with competing products reduce long‑term mechanical‑failure risks, improve operational consistency and cut maintenance requirements. The valve is explosion‑proof with IP67 protection rating and complies with NACE MR0175 standards.
MicroMotion™ Coriolis mass flowmeters serve a wide range of industries, delivering accurate and repeatable mass‑flow measurement for liquids, gases and slurries.
