Recently, Key Manufacturing Technologies of Fully Welded Pipeline Ball Valves, co-authored by technical specialists Xu Shifa, Ding Qi, Zeng Pinqi and Ding Ke from Chengdu Chenggao Valve Co., Ltd., has been officially published.
The book systematically sums up the company’s years of core R&D achievements on large fully welded ball valves. Centered on the prototype with top specification NPS56 Class900, it elaborates key manufacturing technologies including composite sealing structure, narrow-gap submerged arc welding for heavy-wall valve bodies, residual stress relief via hydrotesting and phased array ultrasonic inspection.
Long monopolized by foreign suppliers, large fully welded ball valve technology was a critical bottleneck for China’s pipeline industry. Backed by the National Energy Administration and PetroChina, Chenggao achieved domestic breakthroughs, with its technologies serving landmark projects including West-to-East Gas Transmission.
